THE TRUTH ABOUT GETTING LASH EXTENSIONS

I have always been an advocate for luscious long lashes however applying mascara daily, smudges and irritates my eyes. So I was on the look out for an alternative. I first heard about lash extensions a few years back but had heard that lash extensions can damage your natural eyelashes and make them fall out..I was so hesitant!

With my morning cuppa scrolling down my Instagram news feed, zooming in on faces thinking, 'she’s in her pyjamas how are her lashes looking so damn good?’ I started noticing celebrities getting lash extensions and started searching for a lash stylist to give them a go. I have now been doing lashes for over two years, and can tell you that my natural lashes are 100% ok! I fell in love with my lash artist so much, I just knew I wanted my clients to have the same amazing experience I have been receiving for many years - so I offered her a job to join my team.

How it’s done:

Lash stylists usually create custom fans of multiple lashes to put on each hair — you can have anywhere from two to six extensions attached to each individual natural lash, depending on how dramatic you want to go.

I get the ‘hybrid’ lashes as we both agreed a full and fluffy (natural looking) result would suit my eyes best.

The Pros of lashes:

You don't have to spend as much time getting ready.
Extensions are better than any mascara I have ever used. When I wake up in the morning, I apply foundation and bronzer — and voila! that's it. I love that my eyes look nice 24/7.

They make your eyes stand out at all times.
Honestly, I am extremely time poor and anything that’s going to save me more time in the morning I’m all about it! By having my eyelashes always "done," I look polished no matter where I am. I could be running errands with no makeup on or heading to the studio with a full face, and I feel confident no matter what.

The volume extensions look even more natural.
Compared to a classic set, volume and hybrid lashes truly look real. The lighter, thinner extensions are so intricately placed that they look perfect even up close.

Clients literally didn’t even know I had them done until they got up close and inspected my face.

The Cons:

Not all technicians know what they're doing.
I have had clients go elsewhere and tell me they were in and out in 40minutes, then after two weeks, their natural lashes started falling out as proper products were not being used and the lash tech wasn’t applying them correctly. Our lash gals are total experts and used the best products and tools possible. Just because you find a great price for extensions doesn't mean it's a deal you should take; cheaper services may use materials that are lower quality. Look for technicians who partner with trusted brands.

Volume lash extensions are more expensive than classic sets.
Because of the precision required and the calibre of extensions being used, volume and hybrid lashes are obviously going to cost more. I prefer the fluffy look as it doesn’t look as obvious when I’m due for an infill. So for me, it’s worth it.

Maintenance is key to keeping lashes looking good.
To keep the lashes looking fabulous, a special lash cleanser and a little spoolie are recommended. I clean my lashes and brush them so that they look fanned out and even. If you get lazy and skip your grooming routine, you could agitate your eye or your lashes could clump together. Honestly, maintaining them isn't that big of a deal. I just include it as part of my routine when I wash my face.

With love,

Racheal
