HENNA BROWS - THE BROW TREND THAT’S TAKING OVER
Henna brows - a trend that’s here to stay! The semi-permanent upgrade to traditional brow tinting that’s Henna brows: Absolutely everything you need to know. How great would it be to wake up to the perfect brow shape and be good to go?
Henna brows is a semi-permanent tint that colours your existing brow hair, and also leaves a beautiful soft stain on the skin to give you more definition. This means you can throw your pencils and powders away! It’s also a great way to test out the shape before you commit to feather-touch brow tattooing.
What are henna brows?
Henna is an all-natural powder made from the Hina tree. it's a tint like a product that your brow artist applies colour to your brows and softly stains the skin to give the illusion of fuller brows. The application process is very similar to traditional brow tinting, however, the henna ingredients have a long-lasting staying power. Henna is an all-natural powder made from the Hina tree and has been around since ancient Egyptian times. Traditionally used for colouring clothes, fabrics, dying hair as well as face and body makeup.
The ingredients have been reformulated so the shades used on the brows match the hair perfectly! There are over 12 shades we custom blend which range from the lightest blonde to the dark browns.
What’s involved in the henna brow process?
First, you have a consultation where your brow artist will discuss the shape and colour that will suit your face best. To get the perfect shape we usually like to include some tweezing and gentle waxing to ensure your brows are neat and tidy, enhancing your results. The product is then activated with water (this is the main reason clients are making the switch!) as traditional tinting is activated with peroxide, making the henna a great alternative for those with allergies. The henna is then perfectly applied to the brows and left to process. The appointment application time takes around 30-40minutes. Once the product is removed, the soft skin stain is revealed and you will instantly have fuller and more defined eyebrows.
How long does Henna last? What's the maintenance?
Henna lasts 2-3 weeks on the skin and up to 8 weeks on the actual brow hair. To maintain them even longer - Racheal suggests avoiding strong skincare products like exfoliating cleansers and active ingredients like AHA’s, directly over the brow area, You want to apply hydrating products and moisturisers to the brow daily, coconut oil is great at keeping the looking fresh! Dry skin or those prone to eczema/psoriasis - unfortunately, the henna doesn't work as well. The henna is suited to those with hydrated skin. The henna will slowly lighten over the few weeks after your appointment and as your skin cells shed. Maintenance appointments or ‘top-ups’ are required every 5-8 weeks depending on your skin type.
